[newbie] associations lost in KDE: incomprehensible!

2005-03-28 Thread Ivo Perich
I can't save the file associations in KDE. when i associate a type of file to
a executable, it works fine until i reboot. After that the association the
file is opened with the default program. I thought that may be some kind of
problem related with chmod or chown, i did a chmod -R 755 . in my home
directory and a chown -R me:me . It doesnt work and i'm tired of being
changing all the time the associations in order to see pdfs with acrobat
and .doc with M$ Word...
I dont know what is hapenning here

Any ideas?

Ivo

I had this just yesterday, and after mucking around a great deal, I
found that after setting the new association with rightclick_on_file
Properties Edit File Type (spanner icon) General tab Add
whatever in application preference order go to Embedding tab click
on show file in separate viewer click apply go back to general tab
click apply again (just in case) click OK (and maybe click apply
again beforehand.) I've just rebooted this morning, and pdf remained
associated with acroread, and nedit remained a second option for .ps
btw, its Mdk10.0 and KDE.
cheers
Andras
