Thanks for the heads up. I only venture forth into Bill's world when
 forced. So you use Pine, eh? I am comfortable with NS' mail program;
guess if comfort was my criterion I wouldn't be on this list, though, so
where would you point me to in terms of help files, to be able to get it
 (Pine)up and running?

Well, I use pine as well, and it's pretty simple to use. It has a nice
help-function built in, and it's pretty easy to set up. While setting it up, if
you don't understand a topic, you can just type "?" to get some explanation
about it.

It stores its mail in a different folder than netscape though. Netscape stores
in ~/.nsmail; pine in ~/mail. Also, pine is console-software, so don't expect
any graphical stuff.

It might be overwhelming at first, but after a while when you're used to it, it
behaves pretty well. Only thing I use netscape mailer for is for newsgroups.

Michael,

The original post of "GREAT BOOKS" (lost the real e-mail address) had a
virus attached to it. I think it was the KAK worm virus. Go see the
www.symantec.com site, or www.mcafee.com to find it and remove it if
needed.
Good luck
Paul

What's up with this message? I hope there's nothing to it- I am in the
habit of just deleting or next-ing to the next message without going
back to the list(NS4.70)-especially when there's 250+ msgs like this am.
Anyway, heeding the warning I went to the list and highlighted the
message from Paul to delete without reading it(as much as I enjoy his
posts) only to find that there is a small window under the list in which
it was opened as soon as I highlighted it. I hope I don't have whatever
virus you're talking about and if so how could I tell?

I don't say that you have them, it would however be good if you make sure
that you have none.
Someone on the list posted something that, in Pine (unix mailer) showed up
as a bunch of garble and wobble. I;ve been in the computing business long
enough to recognize strange things, and this looked a lot like the KAK
worm virus.
If you received that mail with a Linux mail program, then you are safe. In
windows, you should scan for it.
