[newbie] constant reboots
i have installed mandrake on a dual processor machine with only one processor. the machine reboots on a constant basis. I thought that the fact it was using the smp kernel was causing the problem. however it happens without the smp kernel also. i can cause the reboot whenever i want but it also happens on its own sometimes. let me know which logs you need to help. thanks, alex Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Spontaneous reboots are almost always a result of a faulty power supply or MoBo, usually the former. Try booting from a Live CD and see if the spontaneous rebooting continues, if so, get your machine, esp. the power supply checked ASAP. Your power supply goes, you could fry your whole system. -- JoeHill / RLU #282046 / www.freeyourmachine.org 17:38:29 up 2 days, 22:09, 6 users, load average: 1.59, 1.28, 1.22 +++ He who does not put out his money at interest, and does not take a bribe against the innocent. Look in /var/log/ for 'messages' and also 'dmesg' for errors, etc. -- JoeHill / RLU #282046 / www.freeyourmachine.org 18:10:06 up 2 days, 22:40, 6 users, load average: 1.09, 1.17, 1.19 +++ The future is here.
