Re: [newbie] kppp hangs up immediately after connection

1999-06-20 Thread Anonymous

I have the same problem with KPPP in 6.0 except that it doesn't disconnect,
it say's starting kppp and it is connected and all it does is hang there,
when I disconnect it more or less say's the same thing except the connection
time is usually 0.2 min...

anyone out there who has had this problem and figured this out please
help

Subject: [newbie] kppp hangs up immediately after connection

 Hi-

Maybe one of you who are more experienced with linux can help me. I'm
having trouble making a connection with kppp--Immediately after making a
connection, my modem hangs up. I get to the point where kppp tells me it
is logging on, and -boom- hang up. However, I *am* able to make a
connection through the PPP config in linuxconf (although I cannot get that
connection to disconnect...one problem at a time, eh, unless someone has a
suggestion for that one?). I do have kppp setuid and there is no
difference when I run it as root.

In case it will help, I've attached the log below.

 Thanks-
 -alan

 PPP-log:
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: pppd 2.3.7 started by alan, uid 501
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Using interface ppp0
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Connect: ppp0 -- /dev/ttyS1
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Hangup (SIGHUP)
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Modem hangup
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Connection terminated.
 Jun 19 22:22:18 localhost pppd[670]: Connect time 0.0 minutes.
