[newbie] making the cd's

You must use the option to Burn from ISO image. Just copying the ISO file to a cd image won't work. Most CD burner software packages have this option somewhere. The .iso is a disk image, you need to tell your software that. If you are using windows something like easy cd creator or Nero for example.
