By default root cannot login remotely. It is not suggested to do this as it is a security risk. This can be gotten around if you really need to do it by editing /etc/securetty file. It's becuase you set the security to high somewhere during the installation. I'm still trying to figure out how to log in as root too other than SU. I did notice that draksec allows you to change the security level and calls upon some script. However, I would like to learn how to do it manually. Anybody??? FlipZ I got the same problem. Passwd didnt help either. Let me know if you get an answer that works.
