Hi, The init strings sent to the modem when you start a connection ALSO set the modem speaker volume. If you are using mdk8 and kde with the kde internet dialer, then if you press on setup, and go to the device tab, you will see a slider for volume level. move it to the right and you should hear the sounds that you grew accustomed to in windows.
