[newbie] problem with Linuxconf 'Help' window height

2003-03-16 Thread cervixcouch

For quite a number of the windows in Linuxconf, whenever I click 'Help'
to get more information, the window that pops up is several times the
height of the screen and there is no scrollbar present to scroll down the
information.

Maximizing the screen does no good and clicking the 'X' in the upper left
hand corner and selecting 'size' does nothing either.

Is there a setting somewhere where this window behaviour can be changed?

if a box is too big and you cant see all of it you can drag it around by
holding down ALT then left-clicking on the box...you can now drag it about :D
I have this problem all the time with my poor old 800x600 laptop.

WOW COOL! I wasn't having such an issue with the linuxconf help window but when i'd
start xchat it'd place the window half way off the top of the screen (so i couldn't
grab the titlebar) making it (i thought) unusable unless i switched to iceWM which
will let me place the window with my mouse when a program starts. (dunno if there was
a way to make fluxbox do that... or KDE)

Another one of those really spiffy tips that i wouldn't have known if i hadn't been
here!

Jerry.

Dont' know why, but I couldn't get them to resize either. You can hold down
the ALT key and then drag with the mouse to see what you need to see.

Right after I sent the email, I figured out that I could use the ALT key to
click and drag the window. Figures. ;)

Thanks for help regardless, everyone.

The odd thing is that this window behaviour isn't consistent for all .help
files. Some open up with a scroll bar and some don't.

Does anyone know what program is responsible for producing these windows?
Nothing in Control Center seems to affect it.

Well, that's going to help a lot here. I'll finally be able to use Linuxconf.
It does leave me to wonder why the boxes are so huge: a lot of them have a lot of
really empty space.
