[newbie] qt 2.0.2

i am trying to load qt-2.0.2 and have followed the instructions but i can't
seem to get it to work it says to enter certain scripts in .login and .profile
where are they and how do set it so the scripts go to each it ays to unpack the
files in /usr/local to make /usr/local/qt-2.0.2 and then rename it so it's just
usr/local/qt which i did but it wants enviorment variables to be set in
.profile and .login  what should i do ?

Try a statically-compiled binary instead of compiling your own or
using a binary that requires QT to be installed.

I am trying to install the QT 2.0.2 rpm in order to
run LICQ. However, when I try to install it, Kpackage
gives me a dependency error box with a long list of 
dependencies.

What do I need to do to install this rpm and get LICQ
up and running?

Get KXicq instead - email me for RPM or have a look in the KDE directory  at
linuxberg.com.

Okay, I'm assuming you're using Mandrake 6.1, so I'm giving you package
names from the Mandrake 6.1 CD.  Make sure you have all of these
installed:

glibc-2.1.1-16mdk
XFree86-libs-3.3.5-3mdk
libpng-1.0.3-4mdk
libstdc++-2.9.0-3mdk
zlib-1.1.3-7mdk

Those should cover all of qt-2.0.2's dependencies as far as I can tell...
so install any of those that you don't already have installed, then try
installing qt 2 again.
