this removes lilo from the master boot record, which is necessary if you are going to have a windows drive again.
if lilo still shows up as you said, it has to be removed.
boot with a windows98 boot floppy and at the prompt type :
A:\fdisk /mbr hit enter and you can install windows again if it doesn't come up now.
anytime you install linux and remove it you have to do this if you want to go back to windows. ( unless you don't install lilo )
