whenever i try to install an rpm ..software manager (rpmdrake) tells me
that
the install generated errors: program already installed
but this is the first time i install the program (not part of the
distribution and/or update).

i uninstalled rpmdrake and d/l the latest version adn installed that, i
still had the same problem.

i have also done an rpm -rebuilddb twice to no avail.

has anyone got any ideas to fix this?

and b4 i forget, is there any way rpmdrake (or any other program) can
install the program and its dependencies?

thanks

I've given up on rpmdrake. It never works, not always for the same reason,
but always something goes wrong. I've appealed for help many times but to no
avail.

The good news is that both kpackage and Gnorpm work a treat and using rpm or
urpm from the command line work and are really not too difficult.

I suggest that you try these alternatives,.

Good luck.
