Re: [newbie] telnet problem:-(
:~how can i access my linux even if im in other pc using telnet?.do :~need to configure anything on my linux? You need telnet-daemon. However, I would suggest you to use "ssh" instead of telnet. yours Denis -- - Dr. Denis Havlikhttp://www.ap.univie.ac.at/users/havlik Mandrakesoft||| e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Quality Assurance (@ @)(private: [EMAIL PROTECTED]) ---oOO--(_)--OOo-
Re: [newbie] telnet problem
install the telnet-server rpm James wrote: Sorry if this has been asked before, but I cannot find the answer on the Mandrake web site anywhere. I have installed 6.1 (I was having too many problems with the 7.02 installation) and everything seems to be working great except the telnet. It seems I don't have the identd package installed. Where can I find it online to install it? My 6.1 CD is at a friends house so I'd rather just download that one package from the Internet and install it. Thanks for any help. James
Re: [newbie] telnet problem
If you can find a site that has the directories from the 6.1 CD instead of the iso image, then go to the Mandrake/RPMS dir and find telnet-server rpm. Johnston [EMAIL PROTECTED] Shannondownload and install the below package. When you upgraded you only got the client half of the upgraded telnet package, but not the server half. It was split up by the developers and because of a fault in the logic of 'update' you need to go get the server part. ftp://ftp.tux.org/pub/distributions/mandrake/updates/6.0/RPMS/telnet-server-0.12-10mdk.i586.rpm Alan
