Hello,
Under linux I have to manualy turn of the notebook (Compaq nx9005). Is there a 
way to have it done by the computer? (it works on the other partition with 
XP).

There is some options of this kind when you compile your kernel. I have 
not tried this since I consider that manually switch off my computer is 
not a big problem.
