And go take a look at : http://www.calderasystems.com/SxS/stepbystep.htm and look at the isapnp, sound, and modem categories on the left hand side, these might give you a clue as to how to conifigure the modem. Heather, Open a terminal and log on as su and Try setserial /dev/ttyS3 port 0x02f8 irq 3, the key is com port 5 in windows. If it doesn't work try running cat /proc/pci it will tell you the correct port and irq to use with setserial. It also sounds as though you have an IRQ conflict which causing the modem not to be seen. Once we resolve these questions you should be able to set it up using netconf.
