Yes - I needed it for win98, which would not run when I disabled it. However,
now that is unavailable (I don't know whether it is trashed, or whether I've
just lost access to it) I could try disabling that.
(BTW - I'm using win4lin for the essential apps, and mostly enjoying it. The
only problem is that I wanted to buy the full product through Mandrake, and
can't find how to. The trial runs out soon, so I may have to buy direct from
NeTraverse)

They look pretty full. The only shared ones are
5 usb-uhci, usb-uhci, eth0
10 ide2, ide3, ohci1394
Of course, I've no idea what sda was needing.
I'll try disabling pnp in bios tomorrow - I daren't start something tonight :)
as I'm not altogether with it.
