Yes - I needed it for win98, which would not run when I disabled it. However,
now that is unavailable (I don't know whether it is trashed, or whether I've
just lost access to it) I could try disabling that.

(BTW - I'm using win4lin for the essential apps, and mostly enjoying it. The
only problem is that I wanted to buy the full product through Mandrake, and
can't find how to. The trial runs out soon, so I may have to buy direct from
NeTraverse)

They look pretty full. The only shared ones are

5 usb-uhci, usb-uhci, eth0
10 ide2, ide3, ohci1394

Of course, I've no idea what sda was needing.

I'll try disabling pnp in bios tomorrow - I daren't start something tonight :)
as I'm not altogether with it.

All ideas gratefully received, as always

Anne

My initial install of 9.0 was pretty near perfect, and supermount worked
flawlessly.  Shame I had to mess it up.

The problems started when I tried to get my smartcardreader working.  The
upshot was that sda disappeared totally.  I have tried running HardDrake but
it just doesn't seem to see the LS120 drive, which was at install identified
correctly and mounted as

none /mnt/LS120 supermount
dev=/dev/sda1,fs=auto,--,iocharset=iso8859-15,sync,codepage=850,umask=0 0 0

Has anyone any idea how I can get the system to find this device again?

Kinda sounds like an IRQ conflict. Do you have PNP OS set to no in your bios?
Take a look at your IRQs and see if there are ones with more than one device using the irq. If usb and /dev/sda are both trying to use the same irq that could be the problem. HTH
