Look at the help file, section 7 I think. Assumning you're using the kppp dialer. Is the pppd setup properly? Check to see that you have passed it the option for "noauth" - otherwise it will fail as it doesn't receive the correct authentication from your ISPs server (which shouldn't be happening). Adding this option will turn off the authentication reception it is expecting and should allow you to use the system normally.
