Let's do the obvious first ...

Are you su'ing to root before you do any of this?

RE: [newbie] uninstalling a tar and zip file

2001-08-31 Thread Todd Zashin

Hi guys,

I went to the rpm.net site and downloaded the checkinstall rpm now I get
this after double clicking the file and typing checkinstall at the prompt.

Checkinstall 1.4.1 Copyright 2001 Felipe Eduardo Sanchez Diaz Duran
This software is released under the GNU GPL

The checkinstallrc file was not found at:
/usr/local/lib/checkinstall/checkinstallrc

Assuming default values.

I cant find /usr/local/bin/installwatch.

I cant continue. Either install installwatch or modify the INSTALLWATCH
variable in this script, then run checkinstall again.

Ok...so I get the point that Installwatch can not be found. The mandrake
cooker website shows that it is one of the files installed and now I dont
see it anywhere. WHat am I doing wrong with this RPM?

TIA
Todd

Hi Todd,

You can find it at http://www.rpmfind.com. Just search
for checkinstall (no version number) and the cooker
version should pop up at the top of the list.

If you still have trouble, here's a direct link to the
file:

ftp://rpmfind.net/linux/Mandrake-devel/contrib/RPMS/checkinstall-1.4.1-1mdk.
i586.rpm

 Civilme,

I checked the cooker. No such file or I am not seeing or missing
something.

 Thanks,

 Todd

Well go to cooker files and get yourself a copy of the checkinstall rpm.

Then install the whole thing AGAIN (a full-meal deal!) except instead of
 make install you use checkinstall

 then

 rpm -e nkfs
