After my struggle to recover data I started a TWiki page on DataRecovery. Unfortunately, and ironically, this is the only page that I am aware of that was not recovered when the TWiki was lost - and I had not saved a copy of the file. I tried to do it again from memory, but it is sketchy at best, and of course only deals with the problems I had. Could you spare time to do an addition about using these tools? I think it would be invaluable. Anne Ok - I will add it to my ToDo list. I guess I had better do it in OO first, so it can check my spelling! Under the Partition Tools section, I counted 11 programs. a few sections above that were some Seagate Hard drive utitilties as well. I know it also has some partition wipe utilities as well ;) but that's for other reasons! -- Linux user #280097 http://counter.li.org http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/ Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? I downloaded magicrescue and managed to restore all the image files that were in my /home partition. The utility isn't comprehensive enough to restore my downloaded tgz/zip/rpm files, so I'll give ultimatebootcd a shot too. Thanx Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Mikkel OK, I'll bite. If the OS won't boot, the partitions are all gone and rescue complains that it can't find /usr, what would the fairly simple solution be in such a situation?
