Hi Koly,

I do it with NT, it's probably similar. Just make sure you've got boot
disk made from the installation and install your lilo to the partition
that contains your /boot dir. Here's a good guide to print out
http://linux.nf/ntboot.htm

And how do I add Linux to Win2000 boot loader?

 Thanks,

The answer to your question is: Yes, just as long as you don't delete your
DOS partitions. As a good rule of thumb, if you have a drive you want to
dedicate to Linux, remove it from DOS using FDISK, so when you're in the
install program to select your partitions, the big blank space will help
you.

Also, don't forget the "/boot" partition on the C drive, I only needed about
600MB for that partition.

 Hello!

My current hard drive configuration is:

 C: 4.5Gb, bootable, Windows98 SE
 D: 4.5Gb, Windows2000

I have a dual boot system, and therefore use a Windows2000 boot manager.
I plan to shrink D: to 2.5Gb, and make a third and fourth partitions:
Linux's / and swap. Obviously, the Install will install LILO as loader.
My question is: After the install, will I be able to boot into both
 Windows2000 and Windows98?

 Thanks,

Koly
What I meant by my statement is that ANY boot loader
CAN have problems. If you run multiple OSs and do not want to have to boot
each OS from a floppy then you have to have a boot loader. The one you use,
be it Win2000, Lilo, SystemCommander, BootMagic etc., is a matter of
personal preference

Unless something goes wrong the answer the answer is yes. You can
also
 do
it by adding Linux to your Win2000 boot loader.

You mean, I shouldn't install LILO?
And how do I add Linux to Win2000 boot loader?

Hi Koly,

You should first make a small partition (about 20 megs) that you can use
for the /boot partition. Use that for LILO. Put that as far to the front
of the harddisk to avoid the 1024 cylinder trap.

Then look on the net (or let me know and I send it to you) for a small DOS
program called BOOTPART.
You can use that to build a small (512 byte) boot file, that you can add
to boot.ini from win2k like

Linux="c:\linux.bin"

This assumes of course that you named the Linux boot file c:\linux.bin

Good luck,
Paul
