 xsane.  Eventually, try Vuescan from Hamrick Software.

Tried xsane, but it says this scanner is not supported. Will try another
model just in case and also will look up Vuescan. Thanks for the
suggestion.

model of the same make and get it running.
 

Canon 3000F - and I had wondered about using related driver.

Seems to be a USB scanner.  In your place I would give it a try with 
xsane.  Eventually, try Vuescan from Hamrick Software.
