  What's the difference between ' / ' and ' /root '?

/ is the base directory off which all other directories branch
(presuming they're on that partition). /root is the home account
 for the root user.

When you run an expert installation, do you select ' / ' or '
 /root ' ?
 Roman

I'd submit a difference. '/' is the root directory, of which all
other directories are under (includin any windoze or other OS dirs
you mount) on _any_ partition of _any_ drive on the system. Caveat
here is that Linux can 'see' the file system (and there's only a few
it can't). The other dirs don't have to be on '/'s partition, or
drive.

Roman, I believe you're askin, what is the principal main
directory, no? If that's the case, it's '/' As Larry said tho,
'/root', is where root's stuff is kept (think of root in this use as
a user name).

Confusing i know, but think of '/' as being root, as in 'the root
of all others' or in a Windoze/DOS sense, / == C:\ as in, The C:
dir in DOS is often called the 'root directory'

Hey Tom,

That's exactly what I have been doing with the expert install. It is a
little confusing. I wanted to confirm this with you all. By the way, on the
expert installation, have you noticed how many different ways you can format
your drive?
Very cool.
