Hi, As far I know you can open the word.doc documents with Staroffice word. I have even edited students papers (in red), saved them as Word 97 files, sent them back as attachments, and no one was even aware when they got their papers back. Give it a try. I have used used Star Office to read a number of attached word documents and edit them. I definitely recommend it. If they're attached to email, you will probably need to export them to disk first. John
