No! But thanks for the response, I cannot imagine what is installed, that 
uses io address 0x3F7

cat /proc/ioports shows that
03f7-03f7 : PNP0c02

Now what is PNP0c02
And hw do I get rid of it?
Guess I'll look at the bios setup!

Aparantly a kernel / pnp issue.
I am running  2.4.8-26mdk
Perhaps there is a later kernel.
