  started to work properly.

 Could anyone tell me WHY?

I count 13 repetitions of the same message...

I would say that is perhaps a stutter in your mouse?

Yikes! I thought that had been fixed with the logrotate problem. I
found there
WAS a problem with logrotate when my ISP graciously told me that I was
sending
multiple copies of security-related email to their 'root' (this was a
daily
tripwire report) I also heard from friends that they had started
receiving
multiple copies about the same time, and after I cleared the logrotate
error,
the duplicate mails seemed to stop too. Only temporarily, sadly.

Right! No stutter in the mouse, but I won't use Mutt until I get that
problem
hammered out. StarOffice seems to work without the duplication.

Any ideas? I'll check the Mutt archives t see if anyone wlse has had
this recently.

Problem solved, but unexpectedly so. I had a duplicate entry in
the logrotate conf directory, and when I cleared that up, ip-down.local
 started to work properly.

Good that it's solved, but did anyone else besides me get 10 !() copies
of this message?

Ditto here with multiple copies which I didn't discover since at first
glance I thought it was a very productive thread or another OT thread
running loose.
