can windows rsync upload to a linux machine? i do want a lot. I don't know if that's possible. I haven't done much file transfer between windows and Linux. I have done anonymous ftp from windows to linux though. Works just like it's supposed to, although it's not the best way. Two other possibilities exist; one would be a Samba connection between the Windows and Linux machine, and the other would be 'pscp' - a secure remote copying setup. scp et al are derived (or part of) from Open SSH, and the Putty setup (which I use all the time for ssh from windows boxes) is very easy and fits just on a floppy: in fact, all the utilities fit on a floppy. Personally, I have not set things up for pscp yet but that's been on my to do list to get some mp3s and such up from my bro's box, which runs Windows. Of the three, ftp is probably easiest to set up - you may already have it enabled. (best-before dating: is that like best used before installation?) :) Want to buy your Pack or Services from MandrakeSoft? Go to http://www.mandrakestore.com

There is actually a port of openssh to windows http://www.networksimplicity.com/openssh/ and there is a guide for setting up an encrypted connection between 2 windows machines http://www.networksimplicity.com/openssh/sftp_rsa_win2k_howto.html . -BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE- Hash: SHA1 On Tuesday 10 September 2002 8:08 pm, dfox did speak unto the huddled masses, saying: can windows rsync upload to a linux machine? i do want a lot. Two other possibilities exist; one would be a Samba connection between the Windows and Linux machine, samba from her office in san fran through the corp firewall to mindspring? i doubt that is gonna happen :-D Of the three, ftp is probably easiest to set up - you may already have it enabled. yeah i have used the FTP server a few times, but it hardly seems secure enough. guess i better look into ssh. (best-before dating: is that like best used before installation?) :) something like that ;-P - -- Convicts should make license plates not computer software.
