Re: [newbie] eMule for Mandrake
Sorry don't know your modem. One place to look is http://www.edonkey2000.com/documentation/u_genericrouter.html Here you will see (in the right hand nav menu - half way down) a list of popular modems and how to open up the ports with those modems. Now have a look at that, as the principle between all of them is the same and maybe you will see one that relates or looks similar to your modem. If you do get a USB stick , Mandrake should detect it with no probs. I picked up my first USB stick yesterday, plugged it in and Mandrake detected it and created and icon for it on the screen automatically. Currently I am playing a few MP3s from it right now. Re: [newbie] Re: Is Abba safe?
Of course down here in Australia it is illegal to make any copies no matter what the reason. So basically all those people running around with ipods cannot legally use them here as Apple do not allow you to use the Apple store here. We have no concept of 'fair use' like in the US On Sat, 2004-11-13 at 07:30, Greg Meyer wrote: On Friday 12 November 2004 02:56 pm, Mikkel L. I guess it depends on how you define fair use... And whether fair use as a legal concept is recognized in the country you live in. My understanding is that fair use as a legal concept only exists in the US. For instance, it is my understanding that it is illegal to make a copy of a CD for any reason in the UK, even though many do. OK I have burnt the CD placed it in the CD Rom of the other computer, but it is still loading Linux (the PC currently has mandrake 9) and not the CD (and yes the PC does boot the cd first) so my next question is how do I now use the CD with the new ISO do I need to make it 'bootable' somehow. Thanx Short answer: Just burn. Microsoft Answer: After checking throroughly through the end-user-license agreement, and after carefully reading through all of the documentation concerning this application, make sure you have all the available patches and upgrades prior to initiating the process of creating an image of the file in question. Should there be legalities concerning copying the software, or infringement of intellectual properties, you can contact the Microsoft Piracy website for further information concerning this issue. If you are able to find that you can indeed create a copy of the software without any legal issues or copyright issues, you are going to either have to use Microsoft Windows XP or Home edition to burn the ISO image - but will need to download and install the patch/powertool necessary for the identification of ISO images directly from the Microsoft Update Centre. Once that has been secured and you've read through the EULA, install the powertool as you would any other software, and then reboot your workstation. If you are not running XP or Home Edition, you will have to secure a program necessary for burning CDR's. Microsoft can recommend several popular programs such as Adaptec EZ CD Writer and Nero Burning ROM. These can be purchased either online or through your local computer supplier. Re: [newbie] M$Access substitute
I use PHP and MySQL, it will handle well over the number of records you require. You will need to learn some simple SQL (depends on how complicated your database is). Also I use phpMyAdmin to help create and administor DBs. Greetings, I am virtually M$ free but for an email database (the Linux Patch prescribed by my doctor to control the M$ cravings has helped a great deal ;-) The database allows me to import mail from M$Outlook. I do this because I don't trust Outlook's database repair tools (such as they are) and prefer to keep my emails in a real database. I was able to learn M$Access fairly quickly because of the wizards. I don't mind learning a database that takes longer but I don't want to waste my time on something cheesy. I currently only have about 25 thousand records but I expect that to grow over the years (at a hundred a day from this list alone it doesn't take long!). Re: [newbie] phpnuke.
I have two sites running phpnuke, and I have found it easy to set up and great.
