[newbie] Trying to automate aumix -L

I want my sound levels adjusted on bootup with the aumix -L command. From what I've 
seen it should go in the 
rc.local file but when I put it there nothing happens. Is there a special syntax or 
something more required than 
aumix -L ?

Best that you put it in your ~/.bashrc
Those commands are run when _you_ log in. Otherwise volume is set for Root.

[newbie] fatal io error 104 connection reset by peer

While I'm waiting for my Mandrake drisk to arrive I installed Redhat 7.1 and get the 
error..
fatal io error 104 connection reset by peer
when I try to run startx. I couldn't get past the X configuration during the install - 
is there an easy way to fix this or 
should I just wait for the Mandrake CD to arrive?
