Kosovo a “hell for human
rights“ | 21:23 June 18 | Beta
Addressing the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Permanent Council today, Draskovic gave a report on the statistics of people murdered and forced from their homes in Kosovo, along with the number of destroyed buildings and institutions from the period of June 10, 1999 to the present. This period represents the time international organizations have had control in Kosovo.
Draskovic said that over 200,000 non-Albanians have been forced to leave the region along with over 40,000 Serbian homes and over 150 churches being destroyed.
He said that the international community is now responsible for dealing with the problem of ethnic cleaning perpetrated on Serbs in the region, just as they were before 1999, when they reacted to the ethnic cleansing activities that occurred against Albanians during the Milosevic era.
Draskovic said that he supports the suggestion made by Austrian Foreign Minister Benita Ferrero-Waldner of “a combination of territorial, personal and cultural autonomy” for Serbs residing in Kosovo.
He also said that the “final status” of Kosovo should not be the main concern of the international community, rather the “European status” of the region.
