OK, this was just my lack of knowledge of how to use NHibernate which was shining through. Forgot to call session.Flush(). Everthing now works as expected. If you are using NH 2.x, use everything between Transactions. Dario, I have played around with the inverse setting on set.. / element and it does not matter whether I set it to true or false, it still does not work. According to all the sample on the web my scenario should work, but for some or other reason it does not.
