[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Braking

2009-02-05 Thread Greg Holuban
I used a contact solution bottle and a short clear tubing to get the air out of
the new brake line. Worked great!

Russell is a good brand. They have a kit for your bike. I think it was $35
w/shipping. Paul`s website has a link for the installation process.

Ah, thanks. Any preferred brands for a steel brake line?

Hey its me again. I have a 1992 Nighthawk 750cc. I was wounding if
you guys know of any good ways to beef up the braking on this bike. I
pain on doing a steel brake line with ceramic brake pads this
weekend. I heard of a few guys putting duel disk brake on the front
wheel, but never seen a pic of them. Any info would help, thanks.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Emissions Petcock

Uht oh, does that mean I can't bypass the emissions stuff without
changing the carbs?

Oops, just learning how to use these 'groups'. I meant to reply to my
post regarding removing the emissions equipment. Are the carbs on the
49 state CB450SC's the same as the ones on the California model? Does
anyone have detailed pictures of how the hoses are routed, which I
need to keep, etc.? I have a Clymer manual but it lacks pictures.

Good to hear about the petcock, I don't really understand the benefit
of the vacuum petcock. They're more expensive (right?) and it just
seems like one more thing to fail.

[Nighthawk Lovers] Re: Emissions Petcock

2009-02-05 Thread Dennis Hammerl
The nice thing about carb work is that unless you file or drill something, you
can return to a starting point. Now that said, you can try almost anything and
see what happens. In all my years, I've only seen a few Calif models and by law
(EPA) I couldn't change anything. I don't have a manual that covers the
emission equipment on those (it was a supplement) , so let's see what happens
when you bypass / disconnect, etc. The carbon canister can go first. that one
is easy to understand. The jetting is the same (surprise) for all models. Why
don't you stop by Kehin's web site and see if you can see what's different
between the two carbs. As you progress, we can make adjustments. That model was
well known for POOR performance untill fully warmed up. To correct that, we
change the slow speed jetting. Get busy and keep notes of all changes. What you
did and what happened. Only change one thing at a time. OR, if I remember
correctly, you don't recall how it was
 to start with. ???
