Likely it is the carbs, loading up.  Like, a needle seat maybe?  If not, a
vacuum leak of some sort.  The fuel shutoff valve?

I know on a car this is usually caused by a leaky intake gasket allowing
unmetered air into the engine thus throwing the ECU's PID for a loop. I know
these bikes are unmanaged but it may be something similar.

To go the CB route, I use a Cobra 38WXST handheld radio mounted on the
bars, coupled with an IMC headset and PPT button/cable, plus a rear
mounted antenna (though you can use the "rubber ducky" antenna that
comes on the handheld.) Total cost was about $150. The radio is wired
to the bike's battery for power.

Re: [Nighthawk Lovers] Looking for tires?

2011-07-09 Thread Allen Thomas
On a chain drive the process is:
Disconnect the rear brake linkage and support brace.
Loosen the chain adjusters.
Remove the axle shaft.
Roll the wheel forward and pull the chain off the rear sprocket.
Pull wheel out of swingarm.

Thanks, my friends and I were discussing how to have a party line type of coms

To go the CB route, I use a Cobra 38WXST handheld radio mounted on the
bars, coupled with an IMC headset and PPT button/cable, plus a rear
mounted antenna (though you can use the "rubber ducky" antenna that
comes on the handheld.) Total cost was about $150. The radio is wired
to the bike's battery for power.

No it isn't as drastic a difference as changing the pipes. I jetted so that I
had better top end power it felt like it ran out of steam in the 80+ MPH range.
It now passes on the highway much better.
