[Nighthawk Lovers] Sticky gears.....maybe?

2009-03-21 Thread Ingersoll

I have 1992 750 Nighthawk and have been having problems with getting
it in to the right gears. The problem is when im trying to down shift
i have a hard time with 4,3,2 gear. The bike will go in to 4th from
5th fine. when i got to go lower i need to slam on the shift level or
"pump" the clutch level and apply firm pressure on the sifter at the
some time to fall in to the gear i need. I shifts up though the
gearing fine though. I have played around with the clutch lever a lot
and still can fine the right spot for it. So what do you thing? New
clutch cable or maybe clutch to with the shift link? I stump though.
Thanks

I see that are bikes red line at 8500 (1992 Nighthawk 750). Could
you get away with using a good car oil and filter compared to the high
price motorcycle oil and filter?
