The SDK includes cups header files, but not the libraries. The

too old. This change symlinks the system cups libraries into the old
SDK.

At conference compass (http://conference-compass.com), we're using Hydra
(e.g. for mobile app builds and internal projects) as well as NixOps +
Disnix for backend deployment.

I wouldn't mind being on the team indeed... (as Rob beautifully put it)
but I can't promise to sustain putting a significant amount of work into
it - which doesn't mean I won't - I'm just unable to predict that and I
tend to over-commit myself in general.

Me officially (not) being part of the team probably won't affect much my
participation on solving the security issues, whatever that membership
turns out to mean exactly.

BTW, all the people mentioned so far do qualify IMO (including @nbp).

I don't think it's strictly required at all. The only problem I know of
is that lots of standard variables provided by the framework default to
$out (transitively), like $outputDev etc. If you define these as
arguments to mkDerivation, it might work.

You can see the setting up of those on
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/blob/master/pkgs/build-support/setup-hooks/multiple-outputs.sh#L32

Re: [Nix-dev] List of companies using NixOS

At conference compass (http://conference-compass.com), we're using Hydra
(e.g. for mobile app builds and internal projects) as well as NixOps +
Disnix for backend deployment.

Setting

  xxx-jobset-repeats = patchelf:master:2

will cause Hydra to perform every build step in the specified jobset 2
additional times (i.e. 3 times in total). Non-determinism is not fatal
unless the derivation has the attribute "isDeterministic = true"; we
just note the lack of determinism in the Hydra database. This will
allow us to get stats about the (lack of) reproducibility of all of
Nixpkgs.

This needs to be included for VirtualBox to detect that it needs to start the
video driver. "modesetting" is also set in virtualbox-image.nix but this line
seems to take precedence over that one (even though the virtualbox-image.nix
has a higher override?) This should fix the problems that I and a few others
have been having with the .ova files built for nixos.org.

Fixes #20007.

Yes, it’s an unfortunate restriction that comes from conventions
in nixpkgs, afaik. What outputs do you have exactly?

[Nix-dev] Multiple outputs: is a first output necessary?

2016-12-07 Thread Freddy Rietdijk
Hi,

I'm using Nix and now also multiple outputs for my data analysis and
simulations. Many scripts generate several files and instead of having them
together in the same store path I would prefer to put them in separate
store paths.

I'm not using any of the common outputs like $out and $bin. The multiple
outputs feature seems to require that $out is used. Therefore I now just
put a single file in $out. What is the reason this is needed? I saw in the
documentation that leftover files are typically put in $out.

Yes indeed! I thought about nbp, but noted that he didn't specifically
mention interest in that thread. That is also why I didn't suggest
vcunat and others.

If someone is interested, please do speak up!

Thanks for leading the effort of setting this up.

I wouldn't mind being on the team indeed.

> Eelco, Rob: what do _you_ think?

I am fine with any of the nominees mentioned. But I am sure there
might be others that are willing and able to help (as mentioned, e.g.
nbp), we should make sure we are open to accepting help of such
people, and make sure they do not feel left out.
