15.09 will be released tonight (CET). Make sure you've all updated release
notes :-)

It takes about a day to do a stdenv rebuild (given that all nixos tests
pass), so I don't see an issue with that.

I see also this as a relevant issue:
https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/commit/453b986d2f1061
If we do opt to rebuild now, it would be nice to announce after we have
the new binaries. I wouldn't call it a "blocker" issue; it's just that
stdenv rebuilds are so expensive.

I also have a few Haskell documentation updates that I'd like to get in.
I wouldn't call that a blocker, but, well, it would be nice to have
those changes included in the release. I can push that stuff during the
weekend.

Last blocker is releasing nixops 1.3, which has issues with new sshd keys
and their incompatibilities with previous release.

Hi all,

there are two more issues I'd like to at least pinpoint before we make the
release:

- VirtualBox 5 is causing segfaults, we could try upgrading it to 5.0.4 or
revert to 4.x https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues/9732
- There are segfaults building packages on Hydra server farm, the cause is
for now unknown

Let me know if there is something else you consider a blocker for the
release.

So far the releases seem to have been only for NixOS, judging from Hydra
settings to the two Linux platforms and other signs.

Amazing.

What about OSX and other targets ? It would be great if the findutils
revert was part of the release.

 Hi all,

yesterday staging branch was merged into master. Changes in staging
reduce size of the closures for typical NixOS usage.

This means the last blocker for the release was removed:
 https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/issues?q=is%3Aopen+is%3Aissue+milestone%3A15.08+label%3Ablocker

I'll branch off release-15.09 tonight CET and if no blockers are found,
we'll have a release out in 2 weeks.

Once channels are created and updated, you're all encouraged to test
your non-critical installations and report findings to github issue tracker
(make sure you tag issues with correct milestone and add blocker label if
you think the issue is major)
