[nlug] http://www.tpc.int/

2010-06-30 Thread j...@coats.org
Has anyone tried http://www.tpc.int/ lately?  I used to use it 'back
in the day', but the network seems to be
pretty small and basically broken now.

I actually found it useful.

I tried it a couple years ago - could never get it to work for me.
Broken was my conclusion as well

If there were a way that I could add a sent from bumper/tagline at
the end (single line only + possible small graphic), I'd commit three phone
lines to it.
Also, there would have to be a way to limit spammers and liability. What is
to stop some arse hat from sending kiddie porn via the fax to prank someone.
People are weird. I already have to keep a fairly close look at my logs for
tryruby.org.

I am open to the idea however.

2010-06-30 Thread j...@coats.org
Andrew,

I think there is a way to put a link in if you are one of their
'registered nodes'. At least things
I received in the past had a 'local' connection listed with information about
who they were.

3 phone lines is a LOT of faxes. I ran a fax server for a bank and normally
2 lines were enough. (sending confirmations of wire transfers, typically
3 pages of text).

This one goes to 11.
Seriously though, I am aware ( that would be 72 hours of fax time per day).
This means 72 hours of potential advertising time per day.
