Re: [nlug] Red Hat Reveals CentOS Plans
Heh: Looking ahead, Red Hat appears well on its way to unifying the Red Hat clones. The one exception will be its frenemy, Oracle with its RHEL-based Oracle Linuxhttp://www.oracle.com/us/technologies/linux/overview/index.html . It would be a cold day in Hell if Larry agreed to work with RedHat like this. RE: [nlug] Red Hat Reveals CentOS Plans
Hello Mark, That is good news to me that there is a LinuxRMS gateway available now. I still have some packet hardware, but have not had it up in years. Now most any computer has enough horsepower to do that without the external hardware and do a decent job. Good to hear from Rob, Been a long time since I had the chance to talk to him. If either of us could get away for a bit David would certainly appreciate a hand on getting the RMS gateway up again. Having it on something other than Windows would certainly be a welcome change. I think it was on 145.010. But there may be other access points. I also picked up a 9600baud G3RUH daughterboard modem card for my MFJ-1278 packet terminal node controller at a hamfest a couple of years back, so if I got some 440mhz crystals for that old, but working TEKK radio from back in the day, I could connect on 440 MHz as well at 9600 baud. I've been overhauling the gear here of late. By the way, heard from Bob Reineri (K7RJR) after many years of hiatus. He said to tell you hello! Sure! Will have to see what the schedule holds for next few weeks, but the LinuxRMS home page (Yahoo Group - https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/LinuxRMS/info) has been fairly active. Seems there is real effort to keep Linux in the packet game but these guys. They have been working through the new Sysop authentication changes recently, but seem to be making headway. -Original Message- From: nlug-talk@googlegroups.com [mailto:nlug-talk@googlegroups.com] On Behalf Of David R.
