The provided acpidump does contain the Nvidia DSM method
(9d95a0a0-0060-4d48-b34d-7e5fea129fd4) with function 3 (used for switchable
graphics).

What if you enable vga_switcheroo in your kernel .config?

If the Nvidia device goes into runtime sleep (after 5 seconds idle, not driving
a console or anything) and is then runtime resumed, does it also hang?

Is suspend/resume working?

[Nouveau] [Bug 96952] Nouveau driver doesn't working well when on Kdenlive

Maybe I made a mistake, I was advised to report the problem here, but I was on
another forum and one user tell me that the problema maybe wasn't especific on
the driver, but could really be on Kdenlive. I really know few about this
things and I think I could not help this, I'll try to contact Kdenlive's
support to show the mistake, thanks for the help.

[Nouveau] [Bug 96957] New: [NVE0] Feature request: Support Vulkan on Kepler cards.

2016-07-16 Thread bugzilla-daemon
https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=96957

Bug ID: 96957
Summary: [NVE0] Feature request: Support Vulkan on Kepler
cards.
   Product: Mesa
   Version: git
  Hardware: Other
OS: Linux (All)
Status: NEW
  Severity: normal
  Priority: medium
 Component: Drivers/DRI/nouveau
  Assignee: nouveau@lists.freedesktop.org
  Reporter: ovarieg...@yahoo.com
QA Contact: nouveau@lists.freedesktop.org

Hi,

If at all possible can vulkan be supported on kepler cards? It would have
immediate benefits for use with RetroArch and the mupen64plus (parallel)
libretro core which recently added vulkan support for their new plugin based on
the old cpu based angrylion plugin from the original mupen64plus project.

Angrylion is not very usable without a powerful cpu despite being the most
accurate plugin for nintendo64 emulation, but now with the new parellel plugin
this changing quickly. However anyone using nouveau drivers can not take
advantage of this new feature unlike those with intel, amd or nvidia drivers.

Nvidia supports Vulkan on both kepler and maxwell cards, but given the state of
maxwell and nouveau it would be great if at least kepler could be supported.

Here are some relevant links concerning RetroArch.

Thanks!

This is not the proper forum for feature requests like this.

The people behind nouveau are certainly aware of Vulkan, in a perfect world,
would develop drivers for it. However, it's a lot of work. It took Intel
developers many months working full-time and with several people to support it.
Nouveau just doesn't have this sort of manpower.

If you're interested in leading such an effort, join us at #nouveau on
irc.freenode.net.

If you're interested in open-source support (GL or otherwise), buy an AMD gpu
next time - giving your money to NVIDIA isn't helping anyone [involved in OSS].

Thanks for the reply, I have already talked to you about this in #nouveau and
made this request again here so that it would be more visible given recent
developments with RetroArch. I do realize it would be a lot of work and even
though I would like to help with this I'm just not nearly at that level of
programming yet.

Also, not really relevant, but I have not given any money to nvidia in years
and don't plan to again. My card is second hand. :)

@Efrem Your issue occurs with completely different (desktop) hardware. Please
file a new bug.

Chris Wilson reported a similar trace for an Acer Aspire VN7-791G.

I found ACPI information in the BIOS firmware for your laptop from
https://us.msi.com/Laptop/GS60-Ghost-Pro-4K-6th-Gen-GTX-970M.html
It could be the same PCI problem that I and Tobias are experiencing, except
that our laptops hang in ACPI while Rashed's firmware does not check the PCIe
link status in the ACPI firmware. Still digging...

[Nouveau] [Bug 75985] [NVC1] HDMI audio device only visible after rescan

Possibly interesting information from
https://devtalk.nvidia.com/default/topic/609790/no-hdmi-sound-w-optimus-in-linux/

On Windows, the audio device is not visible normally, but when a HDMI audio
cable is inserted, suddenly the audio device appears. Perhaps the Windows
driver is doing some rescanning automatically?

Related: 20/111 Nvidia devices report an audio device. AFAIK newer machines
have their HDMI port connected to the Nvidia card, so something is probably
missing there. See
https://lists.freedesktop.org/archives/nouveau/2016-July/025619.html
