No update in 3 years (except for someone asking for an update a few months
ago). I'm going to assume this took care of itself one way or another. Feel
free to re-open if you still think there's a nouveau issue going on with the
latest drivers.

Alex Buell,
Do you still experience this issue with newer drivers ?
Please check the status of your issue.

This morning, libXxf86vm.so.1.0.0 was corrupted; there was this in the logs:

May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: Allocating FIFO
 number 3
May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0:
 nouveau_channel_alloc: initialised FIFO 3
May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0:
 nouveau_channel_free: freeing fifo 3
May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0: Allocating FIFO
 number 3
May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0:
 nouveau_channel_alloc: initialised FIFO 3
May 2 00:26:25 lithium kernel: [drm] nouveau :01:00.0:
 nouveau_channel_free: freeing fifo 3

 Killing gnome-screensaver, and recompiling libXxf86vm and gnome-screensaver
 restored proper action.

This is getting very strange indeed. Any ideas?

Besides failing hardware my only guess would that you haven't removed the
closed drivers correctly (though libXxf86vm.so.1.0.0 isn't a library I remember
nvidia overwriting). Have you tried replicating the problem on a spare --good--
drive? (sorry if I'm wasting your time).
