NPNY: GMA
Just got back in from a lng night in NYC. I got to Bryant Park about 10:30pm last night and was the twelfth person in the non-VIP line. By the time they opened this morning (7ish) there were 30 people in front of me. Seems everyone was holding spaces for 2 or 3 friends. Oh well - no biggie. They let us in and I wound up 5 feet from the rail and about 15 feet from the stage so it's all good. Met a nice couple Kelvin and Paula who couldnt keep their hands off of each other all night. Young love! Also met Alex from Boston and Rosalie from LI. Cool peeps. Thanks for making the night go so quick. Prince did 3 songs. Started with Get On the Boat so my morning was made right there since it's my favorite track off 3121. After a commercial break they did Tamar's Red Headed Step Child. They're not gonna sell alot of CDs with that peformance! After another commercial break they did a truncated version of Lets Go Crazy. Just the chant and then a cool guitar solo. At the end Prince knocked the microphone stand clear off the stage as if to say call out all you want - I ain't doing another song. All in all the sound system sucked, Prince seemed tired and way not into it but like I said, Get on the Boat made it all worth while. Plus my sister called to say she saw me on TV a coupla times so I guess the camera couldnt avoid my fat head. Prince for free? I'll take it! If you are going to Butter tonight have a great time! First of all my feet hurt and I am tired and I wasn't there that long. I don't envy yall that stood over night. Yall a lot better people then I... It was nice to see so many of yall. DC Folks I love ya :-* Audio was horrible. I totally surprised by that. You would think ABC had this down already... We could not hear any from the audience... Prince cut his performance due to audio problems so they had to make up for 3 minutes at the end... Tamar looks fatter and really needs a stylist... I must be honest,,, I am disappointed by the whole thing. All that standing for 3 songs of which one was Tamar. LMAO! I was digging the performance but it seemed like there was a lot of feed back and the sound was cutting in and out. I was watching Prince with my niece and she said: I am going to go watch Earth, Wind Fire on the Today Show, lol! She is 11 years old and I am not mad at her... I think Tamar was wearing a wig for that performance and I loved the blue outfit but it looked a little tight? And when they were panning the audience no one seemed to be feeling her, it might as well have been crickets out there, at least she can hold it down with the singing but people were there to see Prince. Prince's hair looked fressshly relaxed. Do you think he would look good with an S-Curl? I wish I could have gone to NY to check out Butter tonight, I have never been to NY but aside going there for the party I would love to just check it all out.
