[ns] Directional antenna patch

2006-01-30 Thread Srivathsan_Srinivasagopalan

Hi,

Does anyone have the patch needed for simulating directional
antennas? I found a link

http://mailman.isi.edu/pipermail/ns-users/2004-February/039412.html

But, the attachment is no more available. Please do send me the patch or
direct me to a link which contains the patch.

Thanks much,

S.Srivathsan

Hello,

I ran the test-all-smac-multihop test suite and it
failed. The website says that the problem occurs only
in WIndows. But I am facing this in SunOS 5.9. Any
help will be appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: [ns] R: lower RTS/CTS saturation throughput

2006-01-30 Thread Mohammad Zubair Ahmad

Marco,

Won't the traffic type also be of significance in such a case. While CBR/UDP
will be constantly sending packets at a fixed rate, FTP/TCP will be
aggressively trying to send in as many packets as possible for every round trip
time. As you said, the offered load is thus certainly a factor.
If TCP is used, then we observe that fairness becomes an issue as a particular
flow almost captures the whole channel - specially if there are exposed nodes
in the network. This flow does not allow the net throughput of the network to
increase. With the RTS-CTS turned on, the exposed node continually senses the
neighboring node to be sending Data packets and more often than not is not able
to transmit its own RTS/CTS pkt. In such a scenario the basic access scheme
does give a greater throughput.

Your point of RTS-CTS packets generating extra overhead is also certainly very
relevant in this scenario.

Also, how cn I get the simulation model for http, Voip, email, and FTP

[ns] HELP - I am stuck on MAC queue length

2006-01-30 Thread Utente ns2

Dear ns2 users,

I really need your help. I'm completely stuck on the following:

I need to access the IFq length from my Routing Agent. Since the routing I
adopted is the AODV one, I have no more layers (e.g. IMEP) to consider. So,
FROM THE AODV.CC code, according to the structure of the mobile node as
depicted in the ns2 manual, I should achieve my target by inserting the
following line... Given this the pointer to the aodv agent,

int queued_packets = this->target_->downtarget_->length().

Well, it doesn't work. The compilation doesn't give positive results and the
error it gives is the following:
aodv/aodv.cc:1033: error: 'class NsObject' has no member named 'downtarget_'

??

Any replay with suggestion is really welcome.

Thank you in advance. I hope you can help me.

I am new to NS_2. I run the simple-wireless.tcl of Marc Greis's tutorial in

and change traffic model from FTP to CBR, ns-2 reports errors like following:

 num_nodes is set 2

Starting Simulation...
channel.cc:sendUp - Calc highestAntennaZ_ and distCST_
highestAntennaZ_ = 1.5,  distCST_ = 550.0

global errorInfo
set savedInfo $errorInfo
error "error when calling class $cls: $args" $..."
(procedure "_o50" line 2)
(SplitObject unknown line 2)

"_o50 start"

Anyone has any idea why is so? Thanks very much!

[ns] R: lower RTS/CTS saturation throughput

2006-01-30 Thread Marco Fiore

Michael,

it may be that increasing the data rate to 5,5 or 11 Mbps
the
number of collisions is reduced a lot. As a consequence,
the RTS/CTS
mechanism only introduces overhead.
This depend on the offered load (i.
e. how much traffic
is present) in the network.

Marco Fiore

[ns] Routing Metric of DSR

2006-01-30 Thread venusian .

Hieee,

DSR's routing metric is Minimum Hop, this means that if two routes are
discovered
to the destination the one with minimum hop count will be selected by the
destination
node. I'd like to know how is this feature incorporated in DSR i.e how r the
routes
compared before sending replies. Is it the Random Jitter which allows the
routes with lesser hops to b considered and returned in route reply.
If not how are the routes in packets compared and why is random jitter used
before sending a route reply?

Thanking in Advance

[ns] Logical doubt in Ping protocol

2006-01-30 Thread ramya r

Hi,
The doubt i have is a logical one.

Under the `ns/ns-tutorial folder we have marc greis's tutorial.
Here we ping a packet from node0 (say) to node1 thru node2. We maintain a ret
field in the packet to maintain its direction.

but till the packet reaches node1 we use the c++ to define its movement. nut
after it reaches node1 thats its destination, we call the tcl.eval() function.
why is this practice? cant we use c++ code itself to handle this movement also?

Thanks
Ramya

Hello,

I've tried to turn off the tracing bu doing in my tcl script :

set RouterTrace OFF
set MacTrace OFF

But this does not work, I always get a trace file.
Then I tried to comment the following line:
$ns_ trace-all $tracefile
but I get an error and could not execute the script.

Is there another way to turn OFF the trace feature?
Thanks for your help.
Bye.
