[ns] help for cross-layer design

2007-09-17 Thread Mallapur Veerayya

Hi NS-uses,

Can someone tell me where the pbject reference are returned by the
folling statements

   TclObject* create(int, const char*const*) {
 return (new WirelessPhy);
  }

I have seen in NS code the Ns-programmer has used the reference to the
objects created by the following code

 this is AODV:command function
else if (strcmp(argv[1], port-dmux) == 0) {
dmux_ = (PortClassifier *)TclObject::lookup(argv[2]);
if (dmux_ == 0) {
fprintf (stderr, %s: %s lookup of %s failed\n, __FILE__,
argv[1], argv[2]);
return TCL_ERROR;
}
   }

  By this above code, NS-programmer is getting pointer to the
  PortClassifier object from precompiled hirearchy, so that subsequently
  he can use it in AODV

  I want to understand how this is done, because I want to get reference
  of WirelessPhy object in AODV for cross layer work..

  Any suggestion on this is very helpful

 Thanks you all

[ns] FW: gdb debugger

2007-09-17 Thread Pedro Vale Estrela

Its almost impossible to do it at the same time. Read all my debugging tips
then feel free to ask questions.

Also, use DDD!

[ns] Pls read!!!

2007-09-17 Thread Brenda Lindsay Williams

For QoS routing, to determine the shortest path each link is assigned a
weight and the shortest path
is the one with the smallest aggregate weight.

My questions is, how can I assign a weight value to a link?

[ns] regarding Multi-InteRfAce Cross-Layer Extension library for the Network Simulator

2007-09-17 Thread harpreet

hi
i searched the internet and i find Multi-InteRfAce Cross-Layer Extension
library for the Network Simulator. its written on there website that In this
release, in addition to MIRACLE library, it is included a set of libraries to
simulate wireless system networks, in detail:

Traffic generators

TCP Agents

IP modules

IEEE802.11 (both the one from standard ns distribution and Multirate)
MPhy, a general physical layer module in which interference of
in-flight packets is evaluated using a Gaussian Model, and an enhanced
propagation model is provided (fading with Jakes Simulator, shadowing
with Gudmonson model and path loss with Hata model)

UMTS: Link layer is derived from eurane extension [3]
Physical layer is develpoed exteding Mphy
Link and Wireless Channel
physical mobility models (standard and Gauss Markov mobility model)

i wann know anybody used umts in this extension.. i got really bad experience
with eurane patch for umts..
please share if you got any info.
thanks in advance

 I am new to this list and want to know if there are any 802.15.4
 modules for NS2 available?

All the ns-2 versions newer than 2.28 contain 802.15.4 implementation.
Versions newer than 2.31 contain several changes and bug fix respect to
original release.
Probably there are others bugs to be fixed.

Please take a look to ns-2.xx/wpan for source code and to ns/tcl/ex/wpan
for some example scenarios.
You can find useful materials on this site:

Can someone pls tell me what properties my packets will have based on the

Does anyone have a tcl script depicting G.711

[ns] recv() not called for wirless agent, ns-2.31

2007-09-17 Thread Raphael

-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hi NS-users,

I just started coding my first agent (for ns 2.31) which works fine
in wired scenarios.

Since I want to send packets at some fixed times I call $ns_ at $time
$node($i) send in my tcl script to send my packets. This works as
expected and mentioned above in wired scenarios but not in wireless
scenerios. The function command() is called but the packet never occurs
in the tracefiles and recv() is never called.

I already searched the web and looked in some sourcecodes but did not
find an answer. So I am happy for a hint or maybe even a solution which
helps me to fix my problem.

If necessary I can post my sourcecode and/or tcl scripts.

Thanks in advance
