[ns] Use of simulations is not convincing at all? Please give your idea.

2012-07-03 Thread Tuan minh Tran

Hi All,

I received a comment of a reviwer for using Ns2 in simulations that:

Use of simulations is not convincing at all. If you implement your
algorithm in whatsoever devices, I will believe it. It mean that Ns2,
Opnet, Qualnet , etc. are not valid.

Please give your idea.

Regard.

Hi.
Sure they are just similators and cannot really emulate the reality; many
factors are ignored. For instance probabilistic bit error model is used
and the word PROBABILISTIC goes without saying that the results are
estimations but since we may not really make test beds in many sitations,
using simulators may help to get closer to the real situation.
Kindest regards,
Faramarz

[ns] help-handoff value

2012-07-03 Thread zmezm 14

hi all please help out with this , i read somewhere that this is the way to
calculate the handoff value calculated the time manually by looking from the
received packet timestamps , is this the right way or not ???
Handoff duration =  the delay between last successful reception  packet from
BS1 and first successful packet from BS2.
and if it is , how can i find these  packet in the tracefile  out put

with many thanks
