Re: [ns] How to use cryptographic functions
One option could be do all the encrypting task outside NS using Octave, Scilab or equivalents. Then store the encrypted data in a file. Dear Renata and Daniele, I did as directed by Daniele. The file in my directory "video_model" were saved as *.txt files by mozilla. [ns] segmentation fault in mpeg4_traffic
Dear prof Ashraf and prof Lambadaris, The part code of TCL for mpeg4 traffic simulation doesn't work; it gives segmentation fault. Please help by providing an example file in the NS's contributed code section. Using your part file, I created a simple 25-line tcl file (attached). It runs only when I comment the line containing "$vdo start". i.e. when there is no traffic it compiles. Else gives segmentation fault. I checked the ns archives, but found no help. I created a directory "mpeg" in /ns-2.27/ and put mpeg4_traffic.cc in it, and rest is as you explained in the README. There is mention that it works when *.cc file is compiled in /tools/. I tried. Segmentation fault. Nuno Rodrigues and shahid iqbal, You seem to have had similar problem. How did you go about it? [ns] Interpreting trace file
hi, I have implemented a new qos routing protocol for MANETs in ns-2 and now running some simulations. But, Im unable to understand the tracefile format to extract the required info (like #of rreqs, rreps, lost pkts etc.). I have gone through the manual...but the information given there is very little n i think its for wired nodes only. Could any one help me on this. [ns] Binding params from .tcl to .cc file
hi, thanx Sita for ur reply..but i meant to find the source in the ".cc" file, given a packet p. Do we have to xplicitly find if its a req/rep/data pkt and then find the source...or is there any other direct way to do it. also..regarding ur earlier reply of binding variables..can u be more explicit..i have gone thru the ns-doc but i must admit its little confusing. what i want is something like this... in the sim.tcl (my simulation file)...i have set pbw [Phy/WirelessPhy set bandwidth_] set bw 1e6 set cost 12 set delay 25us Now i want to access these params in my "proto.cc" (the main protocol implementation) file. How do i go about doing this? Im near the end of my protocol implementation, so would be helpful if u can clarify this. Re: [ns] Bandwidth of wireless channel
Dear Daniel, Thanx for your reply. Actually, my problem involves calculating the effective bandwidth of a wireless node (more specifically in a MANET). I guess the bandwidth_ variable of MAC or Phy layers dont give this value. I am using the default parameters given in the AODV implementation. To put it more clearly, suppose node 'S' wants to send a pkt to 'R'. This pkt can either be forwarded through 'A' or 'B' (A & B are one hop neighbors of S) depending on the bandwidth. So, I am planning to calculate the effective bandwidths of A and B and choose the node based on it. Can you (or anyone) suggest a way for this. I would be thankful Vinod -- Vinod Kone, Btech,Computer Science, VIII sem, Room 177,Kapili, IIT Guwahati. hi, im working in qos routing in mobile adhoc networks. can anyone tell me why the "default" value of bandwidth is 0 in link layer of type "LL" (wireless routing simulation).
