It should probably be: \defineXMLsingular [c] [n=unknowncharacter] {\executeifdefined {\XMLop{n}} \unknowncharacter} Thanks, Hans, for the example. I do agree, but I'm sorry I don't quite understand how to apply this code. Could you be more specific? It should be in a .tex file that is loaded during processing. You can do this manually in your style file, or in (for example) a cont-loc.tex file that's in your path (e.g., the project directory or your tex/context/user ). Do I still have to use the unicode number, or is this a method to use \e again in the database? This is so that you can substitute elements for entities in your database. This is an XML database, so it's a lot more useful if you don't restrict it to TeX-specific character entry. Entities (or elements) are a much better option, long-term. Should I code each diacritic in this way, such as ouml (รถ) in my example: pJ. Sch#246;ttelndreher/p)? pJ. Sch#246;ttelndreher/p or, if you \useXMLfilter[ent] : pJ. Sch#ouml;ttelndreher/por, with Hans's definition: pJ. Schc n='odiaeresis'/ttelndreher/p My solution by the way does not work with, e.g., a Turkish scedil (U0015F) in my database, while Tex excells in all kinds of diacritics. This is a slightly different issue. It's fairly easily fixed with a couple additions to the style file/cont-loc file: % You can use scedil; with: \defineXMLentity [Scedil] {\Scedilla} \defineXMLentity [scedil] {\scedilla} % You can use #351; or other unicode (decimal) numbers with: \def\executeXMLdeccharacter#1\relax % {\utfunifontglyph{#1}} (I was unable to come up with a satisfactory way of handling the hex version thereof. I also haven't really tested the above function overload--I'm sure someone can improve on this.) -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Adam T. Lindsay, Computing Dept. [NTG-context] html to context
Hi gang, Have any of you guys a script or something to convert simple html to ConTeXt? There are apparently a couple of html2latex converters out there but is there anything for ConTeXt? I was just thinking about that in the context of this post, as pointed out by Bruce d'Arcus: http://kronavita.de/chris/blog/archive/2005/01/converting-bluecloth-to- pdf.html So it sounds like that XSLT would be one place to start. I have to think, at least with XHTML-basic http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml- basic/, that going in and renaming a few of the elements in x-contml would get you a lot of the way there, as well. I have to think that http://tidy.sourceforge.net/ is a worthwhile pre- processor to have in one's arsenal, and I pointed out http://www.re.be/ css2xslfo/ to the foXet list just the other day. Technically speaking, if that converts to XSL-FO as well as it appears, ConTeXt could well be the back end to it. But to answer your question, no I don't have anything per se. I'm just thinking about it. (And, because of PhD obligations, that's all I'm going to do about it, for the time being!) -- =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= Adam T. Hi Idris, Have any of you guys a script or something to convert simple html to ConTeXt? There are apparently a couple of html2latex converters out there but is there anything for ConTeXt? I came across this a couple of days ago: http://kronavita.de/chris/data/md2context.xsl didn't try it, looks rather simple (and special). Perhaps better than nothing(?). [NTG-context] dictionary for TeX,/ConTeXt
Hello, I would like to know what is the best way to check spelling in a TeX-prepared document. I could use ispell (linux/unix), but I wonder if there is a better way with OpenOffice, or other package. Besides, ispell wouldn't check my spanish words like Am\'erica because of the accent. In the same lines, is there any grammar checker? thank you Ciro = == Ciro A. Soto All problems are at the interface. You can use \enableregime[utf] and write your documents in unicode with all the accents instead. I sometimes used the spellchecker inside WinEDT, but I'm no expert in that field. Open office is somehow inappropriate for writing plain text documents, although I use it sometimes as spellchecker too.
