Hello,
There are more ways to typset formulas in context. One is to use mathml,
but there is a module called newmat (\usemodule[newmat]) and this is the
way I use math in context. And there is it possible to use \text{}.
International characters should not be a problem then.

Hope that helps you!

Wolfgang

Here a short example how to use math with this module(you can use inline
math with $ some math $ ):

\startformula
q = \delta \frac{{\partial p}}{{\partial x}} = \delta (\phi )p_{vsat}
(\theta )\frac{{\partial \phi }}{{\partial x}} = \left[ {\frac{{\delta
_a }}{{\mu (\theta )}}p_{vsat} (\theta )} \right]\frac{{\partial \phi
}}{{\partial x}} = k\frac{{\partial \phi }}{{\partial x}}

\stopformula

\startlegend
\leg k \\ water vapor permeability \\ \\
\leg K \\ water vapor permance \\ \\
\leg S \\ surface \\ \\
\leg L \\ length \\ \\
\stoplegend

Aligning is also possible:

\startformula\eqalign{
t_{L,early}  = t_{L,late} = t_{L,ray} \cr
 = 6\ \mu m \cr
}\stopformula

\starttext

compare $\hbox{\'e\'erste}$ and $\hbox{\tf \'e\'erste}$ and $\mbox{\'e\'erste}$

\stoptext

what you get depends on the encoding of the font in use, here you'l get

compare garbage and okay and okay

so, you don't need any additional package

Re: [NTG-context] (monotonic) Greek

2005-06-28 Thread Willi Egger

Hi Adam,

How do I have to interprete the brackets in the topic? Will there be
also support for the polytonic Greek or are those glyphs not included in
the Antykwa Torunska font-sets? - Can't comment on your question, sorry.

Hey all.

Hans and I are working on sorting out the greek Antykwa Torunska font
support, and I noticed in the existing files that there is a fairly
minimal iso-8859-7 greek encoding already implemented (enco-grk).

Here's the question: does anyone encode their fonts using this?
Is anyone so dependent on it that it would be a bad thing if it went

away and was replaced with a (mostly) compatible new greek encoding
(sort of iso-8859-7 married with TeXnANSI)?

Speak up now, because Hans is in a cut-out-the-legacy-crap mood... ;)

Re: [NTG-context] metafun not working

2005-06-28 Thread Taco Hoekwater

Hi,

When this sort of thing happens, I usually run each step
manually to see what goes wrong. So, can you check if the

MP-mpgraph.mp file is ok? The last lines should be:

  verbatimtex \global \loadfontfileoncetrue  etex;
  graphictext MP scaled 8 outlinefill withdrawcolor .7blue
withfillcolor .7white dashed evenly withpen pencircle scaled 2pt ;
  endfig;
  let end=mprunend;
  end.

(if this is wrong, there is a problem in the tex run)

MP-mpgraph.mpo file is ok? It should contain:

  % format=context
   \global \loadfontfileoncetrue

  \startTEXpage[scale=1]MP\stopTEXpage

(if this is wrong, there is a problem in your initial
mpost run)

MP-mpgraph.mpy file is ok? It should contain:

  % mpochecksum : 8298
  begingraphictextfig(1);
  linecap := butt;
  linejoin := mitered;
  fill (101.859,0)--(101.859,3.46875)--
  .app. 15 lines snipped...
--cycle;
  fill (180.047,59.5352)..
  .app. 10 lines snipped...
--cycle;
  endgraphictextfig;

(if this contains only the mpochecksum, you have to
 delete it so it is regenerated next time, otherwise
there is a problem in the makempy run)

MP-mpgraph.1 file is ok? It should contain:

  %!PS-Adobe-3.0 EPSF-3.0
  %%BoundingBox: -1 -1 142 67
  %%HiResBoundingBox: -0.79619 -0.79619 141.033 66.52214

   ..app. 160 lines
   closepath
   gsave fill grestore stroke
   showpage
   %%EOF

(if this is wrong, there is a problem in your secondary
mpost run)

(and if this is correct, there is a problem with the MPtoPDF
step)

Hope this helps, Taco

Hi Willi,

Sorry I was unclear.
This is a question to only users of modern greek. The encoding we're
looking at replacing (iso-8859-7) handles modern greek only. We're
really happy with the polytonic support from Thomas Schmitz.

Sort of implicit in all that is that (currently--I have no idea about
future plans), Antykwa Torunska only handles monotonic greek.

I tried with 3.31 which resides in CTAN, but this is not compliant any
more with the new version of gs.

I tried a conversion ps - mpost with some random file and with
filename-mpgraph.1 and it worked OK. I can't reproduce crash except by
running texexec on the posted document.

  gswin32c  --help
 AFPL Ghostscript 8.51 (2005-04-18)

I had 8.11 and replaced it with 8.51, but no difference. It crashes
only in the first run. The second run goes OK. Once I run texutil
--purgeall, it crashes again.

 For more information, see c:/gs/gs8.51/doc/Use.htm.

I doubt that the problem lies in GS, but everything is possible..
If anyone would like to test the version 3.40 on the posted document and
if there are downloading problems, please mail me. I can get no older version
to test.

Although it crashes, the resulting PDF file after 2 runs seems to be OK.
