ctxtools does not make right font mapping files. Especially for slanted
fonts, it ignores -s slant option. For example, in
texnansi-urw-palatino.map,

texnansi-raw-uplr8a-slanted-167 URWPalladioL-Roma 0.167 SlantFont 4
 uplr8a.pfb texnansi.enc

is converted to

texnansi-raw-uplr8a-slanted-167 texnansi uplr8a

But the right one is

texnansi-raw-uplr8a-slanted-167 texnansi uplr8a -s .167

Does ctxtool use the same technique as updmap? Or, my teTeX (fink
version)

is old?

i dunno about updmap, never used it; currently i load map files
automatically in dvipdfmx (i could get the mapline special working)

i didn't know the exact dvipdfmx mapfile syntax -)

we can add a slant as follows:

encoding = if line =~ /([a-z0-9\-]+)\.enc/iothen $1 else ''  end
fontfile = if line =~ /([a-z0-9\-]+)\.(pfb|ttf)/io then $1 else nil end
metrics = if line =~ /^([a-z0-9\-]+)[\s\]+/io then $1 else nil end
slant= if line =~ /\([\d\.]+)\s+SlantFont\/io then -s #{$1} else '' end

if metrics encoding fontfile then
 n += 1
 #{metrics} #{encoding} #{fontfile} #{slant}
else
 ''
end

I'll upload a version that supports this. The handling is called

 \definefont[whatever][myfont sa 1]
 \setupalign[spacing] % nospacing

[NTG-context] Re: ConTeXt in MikTeX distribution

2005-08-19 Thread Patrick Gundlach
Hi,

I've just updated my MikTeX distribution, which
use a 2005-07-12 version of context package. Since
then MikTeX could not generate the cont-en format
file, when I use texexec --make en, it reports
TeX capacity not enough, so I have to modify the
 localtexmf/miktex/config/miktex.ini file, change
 |trie_op_size from 2048 to 4096.

Did you contact the MikTeX maintainers about that?

[...]

So I suggest the maintainer of context avoid using
 the -p option, it seems

 ||afm2tfm \$file\ texfont.tfm|
 |
does the same job in this piece of code.

But then: how do you specify the encoding of the mapfile/psfont? -p is
a pretty important switch when using non-ascii encoings.

[NTG-context] Suitable mechanism for Theorems and Definitions

2005-08-19 Thread David Antos

Hello,

I've used enumeration features for typesetting Theorems, Lemmas, and
Definitions. Two extra requirements appeared. Is this possible to create
lists of those entities (something like \placelistofTheorems :-)?

And is there a way to add names to them, resulting in something like

Definition 4.3: Interval Decision Diagram Node
blahblah

Or is there a more suitable way to do this (taking into account that I
prefer numbering Theorems, Lemmas, and Definitions in a single number
line)? You have to program it yourself on top of enumeration is of course
a valid answer, I just don't want to do something that is built in :-

Thanks,
D.A.

do you have an enc file to play with?

So with those goals in mind, does anyone notice their favorite *letter*

Looks fine so far, but I have only checked the chars I use (mostly
german). Did you consider posting this to the tex-fonts list?
(Although I wouldn't put too much effort posting there, the answer

No, I haven't, mostly for that reason. The discussion will inevitably

OK for Czech chars too.

Hmm, interesting. I get the same results in Apple's PDF viewer. (The

don't understand about CMAP, however. (Also note that this was generated
a few months ago, and that recent CMAP improvements (I think I saw some
corrections go by on the mailing list while on holiday) won't be
reflected here.)

[NTG-context] font loading

= Original Message From Taco Hoekwater [EMAIL PROTECTED] =

There is apparently something wrong with the indenting mechanism in the

I've verified this bug, but will probably have to wait until Hans is
back (i don't understand his changes to \setupindenting)

Ok, but is there at least a workaround for the problems loading the math and
other default fonts? This is really critical:

= Original Message From mailing list for ConTeXt users
ntg-context@ntg.nl =
Another bug/feature:

Something has apparently changed in the way fonts/maps are loaded.

The following used to work, now does not

% output=pdf interface=en

\usetypescriptfile[type-mpoow]
\usetypescript[MinionProOptow]
\setupbodyfont[minionprooptow,10pt]

\starttext

\dots

\stoptext

The typescript file is my own, but the following line is relevant:

=
\definetypeface [minionprooptow]
[mm] [math] [euler] [default] [encoding=texnansi,rscale=0.89]
=

When I process this the log gives

=
Warning: pdfetex.exe (file eurm10): Font eurm10 at 64 not found
=

Second: why doesn't the ellipsis use the main text font? I guess that \dots is
obtained from the math font, but in running text this makes no sense.

Shouldn't ConTeXt define \dots with respect the text font? Or does it use
something other than \dots?

[update: I used a chardef, but doesn't ConTeXt have a more general ellipsis
command?]
