A book is not at all a repository of code or a reference. It can be foundational, and in that case you'll just keep on reading for many years. So, even if a command reference could be read online (or in source code ;-), An extended user manual (e.g. equivalent to the old manual + the official tabular system, + ...) is still needed. A ConTeXt book would provide a stable base for learning ConTeXt. The ConTeXt version would also serve as basis for features, and any future online docs could be classified as before (read obsolete) or after the context book. Also all ConTeXt features from the book should be suppose to work except if mentioned in an online correction documentation. P.S. I don't use any more ConTeXt for some raison (I come back to LaTex) But I keep looking at the mailing list and I hope to come back to ConTeXt some months later. You could try to merge the big manual and the starter manual. The sources are available only. A ConTeXt book would provide a stable base for learning ConTeXt. The ConTeXt version would also serve as basis for features, and any future online docs could be classified as before (read obsolete) or after the context book. None of ConTeXt's manuals are obsolete, the big manuals provides the basic for daily works and the other manual cover special topics like colummns, integrations of MetaPost ... Re: [NTG-context] page numbering question
I am not sure what you want. Do you want the last page of chapters to be numbered or do you want them to be completely empty? I want even numbered last pages of chapters which have no text or images on them to be completely empty. I tried various versions of the code for Truly empty page breaks at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Titles that Jörg's message about \definepagebreak led me to, and I tried various versions of the additional discussion about Again: How to make empty pages by default empty? from November 2003 in the NTG-context archives. I couldn't make any of that work within the last half hour or so. Thus, I have now changed my macro which begins chapters so it turns off page numbering before the \chapter call and turns page numbering back on after some text has been place on the first page of the chapter and that now does what I want. So, that's kind of a brute force approach to getting these completely blank pages automatically.
