ok, but in mkiv type1's use afm/pfb only, no more map and tfm (the type1

Is it possible the reverse runtime ?
I mean, given an opentype that wrap a type1-like font and given an encoding,

make a pdf with that type1 font and encoding

i'm not sure what you mean but you can force types by adding .tfm or
.afm etc (more low level control os possible but not adviced)

anyhow, encodings make no sense any more, so when readign a type 1 i
read the amf file and remap to unicode ... the luatex backend itself
will create subfonts when the number of used chars is 256

no, this is one of the few places where there will be a difference; we
have way more control now (also to the detail of setting up styles for
each separator in a composed number) but that comes at a price; i don't
want to complicate the mkiv code with too many compatibility hacks

I understand and I do agree, basically.
However, any (and all) differences need to be clearly documented.
I know that you are working on this. Perhaps we need to put together
a mkii-mkiv changes summary document, from the users point of view
updating http://wiki.contextgarden.net/Mark_IV (or Mark_IV_differences).

feel free to document this on the wiki

we can tag such incompatibilities as 'permanent', 'temporary' and 'to be
discussed'

there will also be a module that collects a couple of 'obsolete'
commands (often obsolete because we have better methods now but some
ancient style might use them)

Dear Mr. Hagen

I am having touble installling CONTEX (and metafun) on Windows XP. I downloaded
and installed Texlive. I am able to run Latex and some other programs, but I
tried various ways, unsuccesfully, to run context. For example I tried running
texmfstart texexec.rb hello.tex
and some other combinations, and nothing happened.

I went to the PRAGMA-ADE website and downoaded cont-tmf into the texmf-local
directory and unzipped it. Then I tried
texexec -make -all
and a few other combinatins and nothing happened.

I have Perl v5.10 installed, and I use editor EMACS with AUCTEX

Is there anything you can suggest which might help me. Do you need more
information from me?

Your assistance would be much appreciated,

Philip Brown

Page numbering in roman style is not working for me. What could the problem be?
I get the numbers in the footer, but it prints in Arabic numbers (1,2,3 ...).
This is the command I use:

\setuppagenumbering[conversion=romannumerals]

thank you
Ciro

Re: [NTG-context] How to Determine the Current File Name and Line Number in the ConTeXt Source?

Tad Ashlock wrote:

Looks like we're always getting the xstrdup() branch of the conditional.

Probably because you are not reading from a file at that level,
but from a token list. Do you want filename to be a file even
if the current input is not directly from a file at all
(doable, but less meaningful)?

Best wishes,
Taco

[NTG-context] Fraktur symbol in subscript

2009-07-06 Thread curiouslearn
Hello All,

While the \fraktur{C} command works for me in the Math mode as part of a regular
expression, it does not work in the subscript. The command I am trying is
$ x  \sim_{\fraktur{C}}  y $. I get a blank in place of the fraktur C. However,
if I try just $ x \fraktur{C} y $, it works. Does anyone have a fix?

I am using
This is LuaTeX, Version beta-0.40.5-2009061123 (Web2C 2009)
ConTeXt ver: 2009.06.14 21:01 MKIV fmt: 2009.6.25 int: english/english

Thank you very much.
