Many thanks! Now if only you could tell me how to set the width and height of

\setlayerframed

but didn't get quite what I was hoping for :-(

[NTG-context] Numbered Labels

2009-12-26 Thread Wolfgang Murth

Hi all,

For a rulebook I wanted to use numbered labels in the margin for each rule like
in the manual in chapter 10.5. But I dont get the
chapter or section number before the rulenumber. I.e. I only get Rule 2
instead of Rule 4.2. How can i manage this? In the Wiki
are no hints about that. Below a minimal example of what I tried.

Thanks for your help.

With sunny greetings from Austria

Wolfgang Murth

just started to create a cover page and now my question is how to create
a coverpage like the one of the chemic-manual by Hans. Does one need to
draw ever line alone or is there a nice way to create this look and feel
with much less on coding work.

Thanks for your replies.

here it looks as attached, maybe you still have the unpatched one?
extend=1, slant=0 would be the normal font.

extend=0.3 (or maybe 0.2) is good for legalese.

[NTG-context] Getting font parameters in MkIV

2009-12-26 Thread Oliver Buerschaper
Dear all,

how can I access font parameters (e.g. the thickness of the fraction rule) of
an OpenType font in MkIV? Taco once gave me the solution:

---
\usetypescript[cambria]
\setupbodyfont[cambria]

\def\defaultrulethickness{\the\fontdimen8\textfont3\relax}

\starttext

\the\defaultrulethickness

\stoptext
---

which used to work in the old MkII days. Now with MkIV I get:

---
! Font \nullfont has only 7 fontdimen parameters.
to be read again
\relax
l.10 \the\defaultrulethickness

?
---

What's the new method to obtain the desired parameters?

Best wishes,
Oliver

How do I remove this space?

Best,
Oliver

here it looks as attached, maybe you still have the unpatched one?

Should I try luatex from svn ?

you need today's cont-tmf.zip from pragma ftp.

indeed, a the garden only syncs once per hour

fixed with last beta

Well, actually I don't want to get a fancy heading using layers but rather I'd
like to use layers like DTP text frames and fill them with (unnumbered)
headings, paragraphs, formulas etc. Just like small pages I can position on the
parent page arbitrarily.

The issue arises whenever a heading (say \subject) happens to be the first
piece of material I put into a layer. Any ideas to get rid of the leading
vertical space?

Actually, instead of a true heading I'd probably be fine with another command
that gives me consistent style, line space, alignment, leading and trailing
vertical space etc. After all, I'm going to use this in a poster, so I won't
need an entry in the TOC, nor any markers, anchors to the heading etc.

Best,
Oliver

Why not just

\definedfont[TitleFont][Serif sa 3]

and

{\TitleFont

\startbuffer[test]
{\TitleFont Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur, sadipisci\unknown\par}

\input zapf
\stopbuffer

[NTG-context] Using Adobe Arno Pro in Mkiv

2009-12-26 Thread Changlin Ai
Hello, all

When I used Adobe ArnoPro font in Mkvi with default font features, I found
the memory useage of LuaTeX was very big.

These are some tests:
\starttypescript [serif] [arno]

  \definefontsynonym [SerifBold] [ArnoPro-Bold.otf] [features=default]

  \definefontsynonym [SerifBoldItalic] [ArnoPro-BoldItalic.otf]
[features=default]

  \definefontsynonym [SerifItalic] [ArnoPro-Italic.otf][features=default]

  \definefontsynonym [Serif] [ArnoPro-Regular.otf] [features=default]

\stoptypescript

\starttypescript [arno]

\definetypeface [arno] [rm] [serif] [arno] [default]

\stoptypescript

\usetypescript[arno]

\setupbodyfont[arno, 11pt]

\starttext

\rm test\par \it test\par \bf test\par \bi test\par

\stoptext

and this is the information in log:
mkiv lua stats : fonts load time - 25.328 seconds

mkiv lua stats : result saved in file - cont-en.pdf

mkiv lua stats : luatex banner - this is luatex, version
beta-0.50.0-2009122521

mkiv lua stats : control sequences - 29946 of 165536

mkiv lua stats : current memory usage - 479 MB (ctx: 491 MB)

mkiv lua stats : runtime - 27.828 seconds, 0 processed pages, 1 shipped
pages, 0.036 pages/second

SyncTeX written on lua.synctex.gzMTXrun | total runtime: 28.063

When I used these fonts without font feature, I got these:
mkiv lua stats : fonts load time - 3.016 seconds

mkiv lua stats : result saved in file - cont-en.pdf

mkiv lua stats : luatex banner - this is luatex, version
beta-0.50.0-2009122521

mkiv lua stats : control sequences - 29946 of 165536

mkiv lua stats : current memory usage - 84 MB (ctx: 86 MB)

mkiv lua stats : runtime - 5.344 seconds, 0 processed pages, 1 shipped
pages, 0.187 pages/second

SyncTeX written on lua.synctex.gzMTXrun | total runtime: 5.484

How can I reduce the memory useage in such situation?
