The character "≡" in text can be find in some CJK fonts. For example:

\definefont[song][name:adobesongstdlight]

\starttext
\song
(≡) should be ($\equiv$)
\stoptext

Everything other than \definenamespace should work in both mkii and mkiv.
That way, I can use it in modules that target both mkii and mkiv.

No, everything is fine with \adaptlayout.

It was my mistake, sorry:

Seems like another italic correction related issue. Taco, should the

Well, this works: $≡$
(This is not to say that the character ≡ alone should not work, but it
may be that it is simply missing in the text font and no mechanism is
there that would switch to "math mode".)

[NTG-context] Justifying last line of paragraph

2010-09-25 Thread Elias Oltmanns
Hi there,

what I'm trying to achieve is splitting a paragraph into two -- from
TeX's point of view -- that still look like one single paragraph. To
this end, I have to make sure that the last line of the first paragraph
is justified just like all the surrounding lines, so, in the pdf output
one couldn't tell that this is actually the end of a paragraph. so, How
can I force the last line to be justified as well?

In order to see the reason for my question, consider the following
example:

\setupwhitespace[big]
\setupalign[line]
\starttext
\dorecurse{3}{\input knuth\par}
\placefigure[right][fig:test1]{Basically just a bit of empty space.}
{\framed[width=0.5\textwidth,height=0.4\textheight,offset=none]{Test}}
{\input tufte\par}
\stoptext

The first couple of lines of the paragraph beginning on page two should
really go on the previous page. Since the hang mechanism of \placefigure
doesn't work due to the page break, I'd like to split this paragraph
into two logical entities, so TeX can put the first on the first page
and treat the second as a separate paragraph flowing around the picture.
However, the reader should not be aware of this split.

Any help much appreciated,

Elias

- namespace (the first argument of \definenamespace)
- the value for the “name” key
- the name of the module (e.g. t-fancybreak)
- a short description (e.g. fancybreak is a module to insert thought breaks)

add a section to the "Fonts" page on the wiki, but shouldn't this

Also, I still have a problem: many types of arrows don't show up
properly in the euler font. For example as in below:

\setupbodyfont[palatino]

\starttext
test $x \mapsto x^2$.

test $a \longrightarrow b$.

\switchtobodyfont[pagella-euler]

test $x \mapsto x^2$.

test $a \longrightarrow b$.

\stoptext

Hi,

Many thanks Hans: now xits fonts work as before (with ConTeXt ver:
2010.09.24 11:40 MKIV  fmt: 2010.9.24).
However, for some reason it seems that the white space (or should I say
the glue?) between some operators such as \int and the following
characters is too big.

For instance the following

 begin xits-int.tex
\starttext

\startbuffer[Test]
Since $F(u)={\rm e}^{x/n}$, it is clear that
\startformula
\int {\rm e}^x = F(u)^n.
\stopformula
\stopbuffer

\getbuffer[Test]
\switchtobodyfont[xits]
\getbuffer[Test]
\stoptext
 end xits-int.tex

results in the attached PDF: notice the difference between the integral
sign in LM and in xits.

I am just reporting the issue for debugging, since one may always write
\int\!\!\! to add a manual correction, but this is not a « solution ».

Best and warmest regards: OK

Hi Wolfgang,

following your fancybreak module I put together dummy module.

··8<·
\startmodule[test]

\unprotect

\startinterface all
  \setinterfacevariable {TEST} {TEST}
\stopinterface

\definenamespace[testns] [
  type=module,
  name=TEST,
  command=yes,
  setup=list,
]

\unexpanded\def\typetest{%
  \TESTparameter{teststyle}
  This is a test.%
}

\defineTEST[\v!TEST]

\setupTEST[
  teststyle=\sc
]

\protect
\endinput
··8<·

When called like:
  \usemodule[test] \starttext \typetest \stoptext
it works as expected.

Could you please explain what these other parameters do:
  style=yes,
  parent=fb
Also, what other values would the parameter ‘setup’ accept
besides ‘list’?

> BTW: The two letter namespaces are reserved for Hams and me but
> you’re free to use longer ones (we should collect them on a page
> at the wiki).

What information should go into this list? In my dummy, the
namespace ‘testns’ declares the \defineXX and \setupXX commands,
where XX=name and name=TEST. Thus if I am not mistaken, namespace
clashes might occur both a) among the \…, and b) among the
\setup…|\define… commands.

A table on the wiki will need at least three columns:

+---++-+
| Namespace | Setup  | Reserved for module |
+===++=+
| fb| fancybreak | Fancy Break |
+---++-+
| … | …  | …   |

Is this OK so far? Anything critical I missed?

[NTG-context] Euler font and context minimals

2010-09-25 Thread Mathieu Boespflug
Hi everyone,

I'm using ConTeXt for my PhD thesis and as I'm getting sick of writing
up I've been trying to tweak the appearance a bit. I'd like to switch
to using Palatino font for main body and Euler font for math. So I
tried

\setupbodyfont[pagella-euler]

\starttext

test $f(x) = x^2$.

\stoptext

But I get errors during processing such as:

I noticed that in my (recent) ConTeXt minimals tree, there was no
euler.odf, so I grabbed one from somewhere in the tree in
http://minimals.contextgarden.net/minimals/current, and placed it
$CONTEXTROOT/tex/texmf-fonts, but to no avail. I still get the same
error messages. I also ran luatools --generate and that doesn't make a
difference. I read through the typography and fonts chapters of the
manual but I didn't find specific information about installing fonts.
Am I doing it right? How can I get ConTeXt to recognize this standard
font?

Many thanks,

Mathieu

[NTG-context] index: xml in mkiv

2010-09-25 Thread Jano Kula

Hello Hans,

just to remind the other issues. The code from xml-mkiv.pdf doesn't work
as expected. Only in \TestMode=2 the index is rendered as supposed.

Re: [NTG-context] new beta

2010-09-25 Thread Jano Kula

Hello Hans,

thank you for implementing multilingual indexing.

Is there a way to turn off case sensitivity? I would expect the result
as written in the minimal example below. This is not wanted in every
case (should be a switch).

The "Oo oo Öo öo" part is probably tricky then, so I've sorted it as
usual with xindy plus my custom module and I've got

oá öb Oč Öď Oo oo Öo öo Öq öř Oš oů

so the "Oo, oo, Öo, öo" part could probably depend on available methods
(before, after, last, first). In practice, one hardly gets same
lettering with the different accents.

Thank you,

Jano

% tricky-003.tex:

\setuplayout[topspace=1cm,height=middle]

\setupbodyfont[11pt]

\starttext

wanted result:

\blank

oá öb Oč Öď Oo Öo oo öo Öq öř Oš oů

\subject{before : Oo Öo oo öo}
\placeregister[index][language=en,method=before] \par
\subject{after  : oo öo Oo Öo}
\placeregister[index][language=en,method=after]  \par
\subject{first  : Oo oo Öo öo}
\placeregister[index][language=en,method=last]   \par
\subject{last   : oo Oo öo Öo}
\placeregister[index][language=en,method=first]  \par

\dorecurse {3} {
   \page \recurselevel:
   \index{oá}  \index{öb}  \index{Oč}  \index{Öď}
   \index{oo}  \index{öo}  \index{Oo}  \index{Öo}
   \index{Öq}  \index{öř}  \index{Oš}  \index{oů}
   done
}
